VoltDB Advances Open Source Capabilities to Meet Growing Demand for Real-Time Applications

Company extends support services to address increased adoption of VoltDB Community Edition data platform, as enterprises look to derive more value from real-time data streams

BEDFORD, Mass., Aug. 28, 2018 — VoltDB, the enterprise-class database that powers real-time intelligent decisions on streaming data, today announced advanced open source features that empower developers to rapidly build, test and deploy real-time applications with the VoltDB data platform. VoltDB’s enhanced open source support now offers real-time data snapshots, advanced clustering technology, exporter services, manual scale-out on commodity servers and access to the VoltDB Management Console.

Thousands of users have adopted VoltDB’s open source platform since launch, and the company has seen a 3,000 percent increase in users since January 2018. Organizations are utilizing the data platform for everything from machine learning to fraud detection and fast caching. VoltDB continues to embrace this progression with its feature-rich open source offering that expedites the development process for real-time applications, delivering data-driven insights and more intelligent decision-making across an entire organization. Due to the unprecedented demand, VoltDB is also offering new support tiers to help organizations get more value out of VoltDB Community Edition.

“Open source offerings are critical for the continued evolution of enterprise technologies, as they empower developers to quickly test the impact of new technologies on their existing infrastructure and business processes,” said Madhup Mishra, VP of product management and marketing at VoltDB. “VoltDB is committed to arming developers with tools to experience the industry’s fastest in-memory, translytical database in a fully open source environment. We’re continuing to extend our open source licenses, enabling quicker development, testing and deployment across industries and use cases.”

“VoltDB’s open source Community Edition enables WhiteOps to detect and prevent ad fraud operations like Methbot, one of the most sophisticated bot fraud operations uncovered to date,” said Tamer Hassan, co-founder and CTO, WhiteOps. “With VoltDB, we were able to take down Methbot, which was run by a sophisticated Russian cybercriminal group that generated millions a day in ad inventory. VoltDB is one of the major components in our tech stack, and enables us to process exceptionally large data streams in real-time to deliver decisions quickly.”
